This next idea may sound a bit bizare but say to the customer that they booby trapped the product and one of the staff members got injurred. You could accuse the customer of revenge for the product not working.
Accuse the customer of selling cables in the black marketr, that is not allowed.
Accuse the customer of swapping cables as soon as they got home with the cable they swapped it for a homemade cable that does not work.
Ask the customer why they did not take out insurance when buying the goods, get angry with them for not having insurance.
Accuse the customer of wrapping the returned goods in foil, which damages the products.
